BlackBerry Priv and DTEK50 receive update fixing all QuadRooter vulnerabilities

Posted by M Techno

Today BlackBerry has proudly announced that its the first Android device maker to have patched all of the QuadRooter vulnerabilities. Furthermore, the company is sending out the patches to both of its Android smartphones - the Priv and the DTEK50. The update should roll out over-the-air in the next few days to all handsets out there. Units purchased straight from BlackBerry will get it first, then followed by those devices sold through carriers.

The QuadRooter exploits have been uncovered earlier this month and they affect Android devices with Qualcomm chipsets. The chip maker created the necessary patches already, and three of the vulnerabilities have been fixed in Googles August security update. However, the last one is only scheduled to arrive with Googles September security patch.

BlackBerry however couldnt wait, which makes sense considering that the Canadian company likes calling the DTEK5 0 "the worlds most secure Android phone". Clearly its set out to prove thats at least plausible, by showing a security-focused approach in releasing this update now.
